Merida is a town in Venezuela which has one of the longest
and greatest vertical ascent cable cars in the world.
It is from the top of this cable car, with special permits
and local guides people have skied. The snow is inconsistant,
there is no trail system, and the area is surrounded by
very high cliffs which would result in death should you
have the misfortune of going off one. This is not a ski
destination but people have done it here between July
and September.
